For the Australian Permanent Residency (PR) process, can I get 65 points? Only for certain types of Australian visa, English language proficiency is required. A visitor or a tourist doesn’t require proficiency in English. However, in respect of a visa which necessitates proficiency in the English language, a proficiency test needs to be taken as a proof. Depending on the type of visa, the minimum qualifying score varies. For example, in respect of a student visa, a PTE band score of 36 is enough, contrary to a skilled visa, which requires a minimum of 65 points.
The educational levels vary in accordance with the type of visa. For a student visa, depending on the educational institution the student is applying for, there could be minimum marks. This apart, a minimum requirements to be met in case of English language proficiency, which again vary depending on the type of visa.
The extension of the visa depends on its nature. A visitor visa cannot be extended, and an application has to be filed for a fresh visa, on its expiry. A student visa can be extended. A permanent residency (PR) visa doesn’t need an extension, as it has an indefinite validity.
