Eligibility Criteria

Must be an existing employee of the foreign company for at least 6 months before transfer. Transfer must be to a subsidiary, branch, or affiliated entity in South Africa. No requirement to prove that a South African citizen or permanent resident could not fill the position.

Documents Required

From the Applicant: Completed DHA-1738 visa application form. Valid passport (minimum 30 days validity after intended stay, with at least 2 blank pages). Two passport photographs. Employment contract and confirmation letter from the foreign employer. Letter from the South African entity confirming the transfer, role, and duration. Proof of continuous employment abroad (payslips, HR confirmation). Medical and radiological reports (not older than 6 months). Police clearance certificate from all countries lived in for 12+ months since age 18. Proof of accommodation in South Africa. From the Employer (South African Entity): Undertaking to ensure the employee leaves South Africa after the visa expires. Confirmation of the position and duration of transfer (maximum 4 years). Proof of relationship between the foreign and South African entities (subsidiary/affiliate documents).

Application Submission

Submit at the South African High Commission/Consulate in India. Pay the non-refundable visa fee (approx. USD $127 or equivalent in INR). Provide biometric data during submission.

Processing Time

Typically 6–12 weeks, depending on documentation completeness and embassy workload. Apply well in advance of the intended transfer date.

Validity & Renewal

ICT Work Visa is issued for a maximum of 4 years. It cannot be renewed or extended beyond 4 years. After expiry, the employee must leave South Africa unless applying for a different visa category.
